I was on a bit of a manga reading spree earlier this month and since Futekiya had some nice titles on the front page, I thought, why not? I haven’t really read another BL title with a fudanshi as the main character (although I’ve seen one that was pretty popular, just never picked it up myself) so I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into.

I’m not sure how to express how this series made me feel in just a quick sentence, so here’s this post instead

You know what feels great? Logging into Goodreads and finding that I am 19 books ahead of “schedule”. What schedule? The one that Goodreads apparently made where I will successfully read 120 books this year. I am so on top of this that I am sooooo tempted to make that number bigger but I’m only just stopping myself because, what if I go into a slump?! It’s only February! Sadly, I’ve yet to figure out how to transfer all of the feels into blog posts because I think I’ve only reviewed (with this post out now) like three books this year?!

I really need to get myself together. Also, this is a NetGalley title, which means I received a free (temporary) copy in exchange for a review

I’m not usually a big fan of an older drawing style, which is why I haven’t read titles like X, which I own but have just been collecting dust on my shelves. So I’m not sure what exactly made me pick this title up. I mean, there was something that I found really cute about the composition I suppose, and ok, that title, EPIC

I was not prepared for this book

I did my laundry like the good adult I am, which means it’s time to reward myself, and what better way than to start sharing some of my manga reads of the year! I did run a poll a few days ago, asking if you guys would like to see me review the manga I didn’t enjoy as well as series like this one (that I squealed at) and the majority said yes, so I’ll be doing that from now on too.

[Review] Marriage to the Wolf: The Tale of an Inter-species Union by Hana Inui

In the last post I belatedly realized that I hadn’t talked about the reason I now have a Futekiya account and for “this week’s” BL recommendation, I decided to talk about one of my favorite BL manga I read this year (so far)! You might notice that I have a thing for non-human characters~

Also, if anyone doesn’t know what Futekiya is, it’s basically Crunchyroll but for BL manga. You pay a monthly fee and then you’re given access to their library of English licensed and translated works. I think it’s a really neat idea and I’m starting to see this form of English licensing happening but I’m going to be honest, as a collector, I kind of hate it. I mean, I want to have a physical copy of the manga that I read, but it’s also very convenient. Not only can you access as many BL titles as you want (granted that it’s in their library) but now you don’t have to worry about liking or disliking a story (one price for it all), which, if you collect, can get pricey. I mean, there have been quite a few titles I’ve collected where I was like, WELL, if I’d KNOWN, I probably wouldn’t have bought it. But, it is the current way to support the authors so please check it out!

[Review] The Dragon’s Husband – A Surprisingly Fluffy BL Fantasy by Ake Susaki

At the beginning of the year I was super excited because my manga count was OVER THE ROOF but now I’m too scared to even check. I’m probably behind on my yearly goal and nothing is more scary than seeing that number grow…and grow…So. I’ve decided not to check and after having a two week “break” from reading…BL manga (because you know I’ve been staying up for a few minutes every day trying to read some JJK fanfic!!!), I think I’m ready to tackle my goals again. And maybe beg forgiveness for forcing myself into Sukuna’s domain because WOW, he hot. Who am I begging? I haven’t decided yet…
