Yesterday we went back to Golden Week (May), today I’d like for us to go back even further. I’m still looking through my shelves to see what books I bought BUT, I just remembered that I went to a Jujutsu Kaisen exhibit that I never talked about. This happened in the winter last year (December) and it was totally accidental
I did share some pictures on Instagram but I also wanted to talk about it. Like I said, I wasn’t planning to see this and I especially didn’t realize that it was happening THERE even when I saw this beautiful poster. What can I say, I can’t read it!
But I was “shopping” (more like browsing) and I happened to go into the building hosting this event. I was soooooo happy. I BARELY made it! I think it was going to close in a few minutes and I was like I don’t care if I’m only in there five minutes, LET ME IN! And they did and it was really cool. As part of the experience, they did give me a themed ticket and a student ID card! I ended up choosing Megumi because, haha, it’s not like I’m obsessed with him…!
After this, they ushered me into the hall, which wasn’t very big, but because it was all covered up in heavy drapings and used dark/purple lighting, it felt very atmospheric and big. And of course, this was one of the first things in there!
I think it would have been really cool if we were allowed to sit on the chair, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be
Also, I mentioned I can’t read Japanese so I asked the staff if it would be alright if I used my phone as a translator. At first, they said no because they thought I meant I wanted to take pictures, but when I explained they were like oh yeah ok
After this, I followed the path of the exhibit and it was mainly manga scenes and a few videos that followed and talked about (in the plates) the animation process. I’m sure there was more content but at this point, I can’t really remember
There were only two photo spots in the exhibit. The first was the chair at the start and then after was this close to (maybe) lifesize Gojo!
Maybe you can see it, but in the background, they were playing the episode where Gojo fights Jogo
I kind of wish I could have stayed longer. For what, I’m not entirely sure. Maybe to just absorb the amazingness of the experience. I mean, this was my first anime exhibit! But I had to hurry because I did want to spend some money here. They had a small shop at the end of the exhibit and I wish I’d had more money on me. I was able to buy a few things but definitely not everything I wanted. Who knows, maybe that’s a good thing. I have a habit of overspending, hehe
But what did I buy?
Well, they had a few bags right by the exhibit exit (the “shop” circled around to the front entrance as a line, which is where the register was at) and you know I had to get best boy Sukuna! I’ve sort of been throwing all my excess folders in this bag because it’s really hard to say no to really nicely designed folders. Like, will I ever actually need 10 Jujutsu Kaisen folders?! No. But I still keep buying them
Speaking of folders, I also got this really cute orange one with our JJK cast in casual clothes! As for the folders down below…I can’t remember where I bought them but I figured I’d be fine to dump them in this post because I probably bought them while I was in the area.
I’m 90% sure the folders with Okkotsu were in some promo (for the movie) magazines I bought because he’s not usually in JJK merch.
I also have two other JJK folders but I’m actually using those so I didn’t photograph them, but one of them (my favorite) is a Megumi-focused one. The front has him on it in full color and the back is a mash of different Megumi-centric moments in the manga (so black and white). Many people who have seen me carry it around like it. The other…is probably a simpler design and actually, probably part of this (below) duo (I suppose, making it a trio of folder designs)
But my favorite purchase was probably this display!
I don’t even know what it’s called but I just love the dimensions and we’re in Sukuna’s domain. Did I mention that I love Sukuna? They had a few others but like I said, didn’t have that much money on me, or I probably would have bought at least one more!
It actually comes with some leg pieces so it can stand nicely on a desk but for the sake of this post, I had to lay it flat. Actually, I took so many pictures of this until I decided this was the best because it reflects so well. Hopefully like this the details are easier to see!
Well, that wraps up this event. I wish I could have taken more pictures but I’ve realized that Japan doesn’t like people taking pictures of anything so there’s not much else to share.
For now, until later~
p.s. If anyone is curious and can’t read like me, this was in Hiroshima
