Inuyasha was my gateway to anime so when I heard that it would continue I was EXCITED. No, I haven’t finished the main story (although I did get all the way to episode 141 when Hakudōshi is introduced) because it was too long and I wasn’t seeing an ending coming along. Even when the Final Act came out, I still didn’t watch it
but I did watch the last scene with Inuyasha and Kagome staying in the village so ok, it’s fair to ask if I really am a fan of this series. I am, it was my OBSESSIon when I was growing up and I collected a ton of the DVDs, shirts, posters, and really anything I could get my paws on
Of course, when I tried to watch Inuyasha as an adult (last year), I didn’t get very far, but now I think I’ll give it another shot! Although if the summary has anything to say, I probably won’t need to rewatch, but my nostalgia demands that I at least try so I can get reacquainted with the parents of our future protagonists
In Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, the daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha set out on a journey transcending time. Set in feudal Japan, half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.
Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a demon slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister. Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.VizMedia
What are my thoughts?
💡 LOOK who had a child with Sesshomaru?! Imma need to fight a 2D character
💡 Wait…does Kohaku still being around mean that Inuyasha and the others found a way to get the shard out of his back without killing him? I imagine they did restore the jewel…? Ok, so maybe it’s a good idea to at least figure out what happened in the Final Act
💡 I didn’t really think much about how Towa got to the present day but now that I AM, where was Sesshomaru when this forest fire happened? Is he not part of their lives like that? I’m just thinking about how he took care of Rin and how he’d always threaten Jakken to make sure she’s safe. I’m really curious about their relationship. My brother pointed out that Setsuna might hate Sesshomaru if she decided to become a demon slayer but…I mean, you can slay demons and still be a demon right? Maybe she thought Uncle Inuyasha was cool. But maybe they are distant? I just can’t see Sesshomaru being kind and caring and fatherly…
💡 Wait…are they full demons?! I just kind of assumed they would be but if Towa is able to blend into human society for ten years with no problem (maybe?) and Setsuna looks humanoid. I mean, they could potentially be half demons…I was going to say I can’t see Sesshomaru getting with a human but I also couldn’t see him ever having kids and look at him now, twins!
💡 The summary says that Towa went through a tunnel, does that mean there’s another way to transcend time? And why did it seal up after she went through? Actually, since she just stayed with the Higurashis, does that mean that the well closed up as well? Hm, maybe the answers lie with the Final Act…
💡 I’m curious about the whole “memory loss”. How old was Towa when she disappeared? And did she age by human standards (maybe? I mean, she stayed in the present for ten years and it even looks like she went to school if her outfit has anything to say about it). I was just thinking that if she ages by human standards and she disappeared when she was 5 and is 15 when she’s able to return to the feudal era, it makes sense that she doesn’t remember? I mean, I don’t remember much
💡 Do the Higurashi’s know she’s not human? Did they ever try to find a way to send her back? Does she realize she’s not human? I wonder what she thinks about that. I mean, there are no demons in the present time.
💡 How does Moroha fit into all this? It sounds like the plot is mainly revolving around the twins and then Inuyasha’s daughter is like hey let me tag along on the adventure (which is hilarious)
💡 So if the tunnel opens up again later and their adventures bring them between both times, does that mean that anyone can just use the tunnel? I figured Inuyasha and Kagome were the only ones able to use the well because Kagome had the jewel and Inuyasha was…helping her restore it? But how does Moroha figure into being able to cross over? (I’m assuming she can based on the summary). Is passing through time now a genetic thing? Lol
💡 I am really curious about Towa’s design. I’m just thinking about all the girls we’ve seen in the present time and they all wear skirts for school but she’s wearing something that looks like a boys uniform. Interesting, interesting…
I heard that the series was going to start airing in the fall. I told myself I wouldn’t be following any seasonal shows because there’s a 100% chance I’ll drop it in the first few episodes (I’m an impatient watcher) but maybe it’ll be different this time. I mean, what if it pulls a Boruto and before I know it, there are a hundred episodes?! Not that that would be bad (if the series is good) but I’d rather not give myself so much homework when I can watch it in bite sized pieces
But I’m curious, is anyone going to check this out? What are your thoughts on the bit of news we’ve gotten so far? I know there’s an official website for the series but it’s in Japanese and so I don’t understand anything on there (bummer)
