2-in-1 Special: Yaoi-con + AWA Buys!!! (Manga Haul #6)

Hey guys! 🙂

So I recently went to two conventions, practically back to back! On the weekend of September 18 – 20 I went to one of my yearly cons, Yaoicon 😀 and from September 24 – 27 I was at Anime Weekend Atlanta! >_< I’ve been a busy congoer this month

Now, I usually post up a review of the convention before I post up what depleted my wallet into next year…but this time I couldn’t help myself. I’m going to show off all my goodies before I post up those reviews…which are in the making 😛

Anyways, since a while ago (maybe a month ago? going on two?) I started getting really into this sports anime called Ace of Diamond/Diamond no Ace/Daiya no A (an anime show of epic proportions), and ever since Miyuki showed his handsome mug on screen I’ve been smitten. So expect a lot of me looking around for Daiya specific merch 😀

We’ll start with Yaoi-con since I went there first!

So the plan had been to not spend a lot of money, of course, this went down the drain when I stepped into the swap meet. If you don’t know what this is, it’s basically like a dealer’s hall but everything that’s being sold is from fans so the merchandise can vary from brand new to used.

Aaaaaaaaand here is what I got!

• Angel Runes v. 1 – 2
• La Esperanza v 1
• Earthian v 1 – 2
  • I decided to get these two because I own volume 3 and I didn’t want to look for the manga online. This was basically like fate, I saw them and thought, mine!
• Voice or Noise v 1 – 2
  • Ah! I read this series a while back and was so sad to find that it wasn’t complete! I have this poster up in my room and when I lay down I just look at the two main characters. I know there’s one more book published in English and apparently, the series is still ongoing with 4 volumes in Japanese.
• Rabbit Man, Tigger Man v. 2
  • This manga is so adorable and if you haven’t read it then you must go check it out now!! I’m serious, this is just, my doki doki doki dokis for this mafia-doctor story. I didn’t even hesitate to pay $15 for this. Unfortunately, the person selling it didn’t have the first one up for sale, so sad
• Okane Ga Nai (JP) v 1 – 6
  • I saw these and just had to buy them. They were really cheap too, $10 for all of them!
• Clan of the Nakagami’s: The Devil Cometh
• Legal Drug v. 1 – 3
  • And thus, another series was added to my CLAMP collection! 😀 I was so happy when I found these! I’d been debating when and where to buy these from. I’d seen the omnibus at B&N but it was slightly cheaper on Amazon…but it was still pretty expensive…but then I found this one and yoinks! It was mine.
• Haru Sleepy Figurine (Thing)
• Drap Magazine (December 2012 Issue)
• Gakken Magazine (November 2014 Issue): I got this one because it had Slaine on the cover ♥

Now, I would’ve bought more but I could barely move around with all of these books so I left the swap meet to drop off everything in my room. When I came back I was told I couldn’t go back inside 😦 I was so sad because I had almost looked at everything! I just needed one more corner (but I guess it’s also a good thing because I didn’t end up spending ALL my money there…just like 98% of it)

After the swap meet I did another sweep of the dealer’s hall (I actually did a couple sweeps) and finally bought some more items 😀 Mostly books and keychain figures! And the artist alley dealt the finishing blow to my wallet. I think this was the first time I’d spent so much on more than 2 artists before, which is impressive because I can be picky about the art I buy.

  • I actually decided to get this because I’d read Alice the 101st, which takes place in the same world. I know the characters from this series appear in Alice the 101st so I was really curious to find out about their backstory. Also, I just really enjoyed that series and need more, haha.
• A Waltz in the Clinic (previous photos)
• Tokyo Demons v. 1 – 2 (Novels)
  • The main reason I got this books is that the cover art was really nice! I read the summary for it and found it really interesting. I was initially only going to buy the first book to check it out but then was like, ah whatever, I’ll get both. So yeah…I don’t usually like to buy books I’ve never even heard about but I’m hoping this’ll be a good read 😀

• 2 Kuroko no Basket keychains
• Kaneki Ghoul keychain (not shown)

• 6 pins from shows I don’t watch (but they were cute so I got some)

Now, with all of these goodies, it’s a good thing I brought an extra bag with me! But even then it didn’t all fit so I was also carrying an extra black bag, haha!

But of course, the fun doesn’t just end here, because on the next weekend I found myself at another convention! Now it was actually my first time at Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was nice to find that the dealer’s hall was MUCH bigger than the one at Yaoi-con but I also didn’t spend as much.

Not sure if that had to do with my limited amount of money or because I just didn’t find many things appealing. Also, on the evening of the first day there was a swap meet that my brother and I went to. When I go to swap meets I usually only look for books and this time around I found some great titles! There was this one stand that had so many books and they had complete collections so I got some books from them. My brother actually got them at a very nice price!

• Attack on Titan LN: The Harsh Mistress of the City v. 1 – 2
  • If it’s Attack on Titan I will most likely buy it because why not? I really like the manga and I’m trying to get a bulk of light novels to read.
• Time Reavers (Novel)
  • This was actually a last minute buy. On our first walkthrough of the dealer’s hall my brother had been talking with the author of this book while I was calling my mom (to tell her how we were and all), and he ended up not buying it. But right before leaving the convention he decided he wanted the book and I thought I’d buy one too, so we rushed back to get it. They had 3 different series for sale and I ended up picking the one with least scifi-ish setting. Again, I don’t usually buy books by people I don’t know and I’m not really expecting much from this but I thought, why not?
• Seraph of the End v. 1 – 5
  • This place really saved me the hassle of deciding if I was going to buy or not buy this series. I mean, it’s not bad but it’s also not great so I was in limbo for a while.
• Judge v. 2 – 6 (I already have v. 1)
• Buddha v. 2 (I already have v. 1)
• Eir Aoi’s CD/DVD combo album D’Azur (of Blue)
  • I will be posting up a review for this like I did with the Aldnoah Zero OST!
• 4.5 Miyuki keychain rubber figures
• 2.5 Sawamura keychain figures
• 3 Reika Photobooks and 2 posters ♥♥♥ (The sole reason I went to AWA this year)

I think that was all. I had also brought an extra bag with me (just in case) but it wasn’t necessary, haha!

So now that I have these 3 photobooks my Reika Photobooks collection is up to date! :3 God, I was so excited when she was there and I swear I was being a total creeper when at her panel. I think even the stalkers gave me looks of, what the hell is she asking?! LOL

But just look at those two! They’re so adorable! I need more Daiya merchandise but I’m kind of really broke right now!!
